Project Overview
LightYX supported DPR Construction on the Innovage Orlando project, a 34,000 sq. ft. elderly healthcare facility in Orlando, FL. The project included a highly complex curved framing layout, which DPR’s SPW group estimated would take approximately 3 weeks using a robotic total station workflow.
Using the LightYX BeamerOne system, the layout team was able to bring the digital layout directly to the floor and project complex curved geometry at full scale. The work was completed by a LightYX operator with two people marking the framing layout, allowing the team to execute the layout quickly and accurately across the entire floor.
The main field challenges were the complexity of the curved layout and the lack of clear control lines. LightYX helped address this by scanning existing columns and creating control lines that were then used as anchors for the full layout.
4–6× Faster Layout on a Complex Healthcare Project
LightYX significantly reduced the time required to complete the layout. Instead of the estimated 15–20 manual layout days, the project was completed in just 3 days, helping DPR move faster while maintaining a high level of quality. The customer reported that the layout was completed with no rework needed.
The BeamerOne system proved especially valuable for curved layout conditions. Since LightYX projects curves as easily as straight lines, the team avoided the slower point-by-point process typically required with traditional layout tools. This created a major productivity improvement and helped simplify a layout scope that would normally be time-consuming and labor-intensive.
Customer feedback was very positive. The DPR team was impressed with how quickly the layout was completed, how much was laid out, and how easy the tool was to use. The project demonstrated a 4–6× speed improvement compared with manual layout, making it a strong success story for using digital laser layout on complex healthcare construction projects.
