Floating Ceiling Island Layout Project
For the Ensemble Immobilier Miroir – Ilot D project in Angers, France, LightYX supported the layout of Ecophon Solo floating ceiling islands across a 9-level building. The layout scope included 6,547 total points, covering multiple floating island sizes, including 2400x1200, 2400x600, 1800x1200, and 1200x1200 mm panels.
Using laser projection layout, the team transformed the digital ceiling layout into accurate, full-scale points directly on-site. This allowed the marking process to be completed faster, with fewer workers, and with improved consistency compared to traditional manual layout methods.
Layout Productivity
LightYX completed the layout work in 7 days using one operator, compared with an estimated 33 to 44 days using a traditional two-person manual marking crew. This created an estimated time savings of 26 to 37 working days.
The productivity improvement was driven by a layout speed of approximately 1,000 points per day with laser projection, compared with 150 to 200 points per day using traditional manual marking. In addition to the schedule reduction, the project reduced the required marking crew from two workers to one operator.
