Project scope:

Alpha Mechanical tapped LightYX BeamerOne to handle complex mechanical layout deliverables for the Cartier – Troy Somerset retail project. By bringing digital design directly onto the jobsite with laser-accurate projection, the team accelerated HVAC anchor and strap layout — reducing manual work and rework while keeping the schedule on track

Project challenge:

Traditional mechanical layout for HVAC anchors and straps often relies on manual measurement tools — tape measures, cut-sheets, and total stations — resulting in:

• slow pace when marking thousands of layout points
• increased risk of human error
• schedule delays due to rework and coordination checks

Alpha Mechanical needed a more efficient way to translate digital design into the field with consistency and speed.

LightYX Solution & Workflow:

LightYX BeamerOne™ was used to:

1. Import the mechanical BIM/CAD files into the LightYX app.
2. Set up the BeamerOne on site with reference control points.
3. Laser-project layout points directly on the floor and walls for anchor and strap locations.
4. Organize work by component type (straps, anchors, etc.) using layer separation.
5. Extend layout coverage even in congested or hard-to-reach zones.

Crew Efficiency: With only 2 layout workers, LightYX delivered high-speed, high-accuracy mechanical point placement that would traditionally and  QA require a larger team or multiple days see the table.
